Squirly's: Toronto, Ontario

It was our last day in Toronto and we decided to take the long ride from our hotel by the airport into town for one last shot at what could be the best plate of nachos in Canada. I wasn't ready to say that the Beertown nachos were the best on our trip or that the Snooty Fox in Fredericton were the best in Canada. I was ready to have my mind blown and when it's your last day in a big city, you have to make it count. I wanted these nachos to be on my mind while we are trying to land in foggy Saint John and then rushing to work immediately after landing with my ears still plugged up from the plane. Plus, who knows when we will be in Toronto again? It's between Toronto or Quebec City for our fall marathon next year. Buccaneer's Pub: Saint John, New Brunswick

NOTE: This restaurant has closed. The Buccaneer's Pub is Saint John's oldest pub, and it is located on the west side of the city, close to Moosehead Breweries and Simms' Corner. The Buccaneer's Pub is known for its reasonably priced food and craft beer, and it was time I rated a new place in Saint John for the first time in a while. Buccaneer's Chicken Nachos - October 2019 Buccaneer's Chicken Nachos - October 2019 Distribution of Toppings All the toppings and cheese were fairly distributed on the pita nacho chips. Keep in mind, however, that there were not a lot of layers on the nachos so it would have been hard to mess up the distribution of toppings. In addition, some of the outside chips were missing some veggies and chicken. Quality The pita chips were fresh and I liked how there were two different types of cheese mixed on them. Maxwell's Plum: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Maxwell's Plum is a pub located in the downtown core of Halifax, Nova Scotia. We have found ourselves at Maxwell's Plum a couple of times now, and I think that it's safe to say that you should just go there for the beer selection and skip the nac- chips and cheese dip. Maxwell's Plum Nachos- October 2019 Maxwell's Plum Nachos- October 2019 This is normally the part where I divide my review into different sections to come to a grand conclusion; however, I think I will make an exception for this place. Let's re-visit what was written on the menu for these nachos: Maxwell's Famous Frying Pan Nachos "Maxwell's salsa, green onion, sliced black olives, and jalapeños topped with double cheese, just right for dipping.....served in Maxwell's frying pan with a side of nacho chips and real sour cream." Cathleen's Nachos

In the past, there were a few opportunities for me to try one's homemade nachos, and this was one of the times. I may be toning it down with going to restaurants and rating nachos for a while; however, you never know what is to come for the future of the Nacho Blog. There are a few places where the rating has expired and I will have to re-visit soon. Cathleen invited us over for some nachos and we had been talking about this nacho experience all summer. October rolled around, and it was time to experience something that was better than many restaurants on this blog. Rustico: Fredericton, New Brunswick

Rustico is located in the downtown core of Fredericton New Brunswick's "South Side". In addition, Rustico is known mostly for its pizza, but what you may not know is that it is the sponsor for the 5km of the Fall Classic race! Of course, we did not have pizza and decided to do further research for the blog by having their nachos. I think nachos are important to give you carbs for a 5km race, and this is why you have nachos for lunch (Maxwell's) and supper (Rustico)! Maxwell's Restaurant & Bar: Fredericton, New Brunswick

Maxwell's Restaurant & Bar is located in the heart of downtown Fredericton, New Brunswick inside the Beaverbrook Crowne Plaza hotel. When I say downtown Fredericton, I mean the "South Side", which has the universities and colleges as well as The Snooty Fox (The Excellence) . I noticed that previously we did not have a lot of representation on this blog when it comes to Fredericton. My Fredericton pictures of nachos consisted of a lot of Snooty Fox Beef Nachos (with steak pieces for beef!). When visiting another area and having the intention to have nachos, it comes to a point where you are making a choice between: 1) why question a good thing? or 2) maybe there is better out there. On our trip, we opted for #2 this time. Did we make the right call?
