Cask and Kettle Irish Gastropub

The Cask and Kettle Irish Gastropub opened its Irish doors at its first location in Uptown Saint John, New Brunswick in 2016. It is located on Prince William street in the heart of the uptown area.

In 2021, Cask and Kettle opened a second location in Rothesay, New Brunswick. After they opened the Rothesay location, they opened a third location in Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick. It is located at the Westfield Golf Course and I'm sure it would be a delight to have some nachos after a good round of golf!

Distribution of Toppings

When we went in March 2026, the distribution of toppings was great. There were some bare chips but it wasn't too bad - there was a lot of toppings to be scooped up and we needed every chip they gave us!

Quality

Cask and Kettle KV usually does a decent job with the toast factor, and there is always so much flavor in every bite. The cooks are not shy with the amount of toppings, cheese, and dips. I like how there are a lot of unique tasty options for meat. I also like the option to have corn chips. As I always say, I prefer the classic corn tortilla chip.

Value

The full-size nachos cost $19.75 and the half nachos are $13.50. There are also extra charges for adding meat ($6 for chicken, beef, bacon, or pulled pork, $10 for fried chicken), guacamole ($4), or substituting for different types of chips ($2 for corn, $4 for naan). I think the value is pretty good considering the quality and all the options they have.

Quantity

They were sufficient for a person to eat after an extremely hard workout, which was quite satisfying with a cold drink.

Conclusion

It looks like Cask and Kettle KV, like their Saint John location, has been taking the nachos more and more seriously over the years. The service has always been top notch, and the food is delicious and usually ready quickly. We will be back again soon!

Distribution of Toppings

As you can see from the pictures, we had a completely different experience at Cask & Kettle Saint John than what we had 5 years ago. The distribution of toppings and the chip to cheese ratio was done to perfection. Every bite was an absolute delight.

Quality

We do not normally have fried chicken nachos, but the fried chicken was big, delicious and crispy. It was not dry at all. The toast factor was perfect and everything was melted and there was lots of cheese. The jalapeƱos were wonderfully spicy. The creamy guacamole was pretty plain but still tasty and the salsa was decent. I love having the option of corn chips, and the dreaded round chips have been nowhere to be seen for quite some time now!

Quantity

The nachos are good for sharing as a meal between a couple of people for a good size lunch.

Value

The full Cask & Kettle nachos are $19.75. If you add guacamole, it is $4 extra. If you add fried chicken, it is $10 extra. If you substitute corn chips it is $2 extra. They are a little pricey considering the size; however, I would pay that for these high-quality nachos where they nailed the distribution.

Conclusion

This visit has inspired me to continue on my journey to re-experience more nachos in my hometown and update the hometown top 10. It was an absolute delight to have nachos that turned from passable to an excellent nacho. I would increase the quantity, maybe jazz up the guacamole, and then they would be perfect.
