NOTE: This restaurant has closed. I think I have waited long enough to write up a review about my favorite restaurant in the Saint John area. It is challenging with this one, because I am a "regular" there and I personally like the owners. Are you ready? Taco Pica was founded in 1994 and the menu is flooded with the authentic tastes of Mexican, Guatemalan, and Spanish cuisine. When you walk through the doors, you feel like the snow and -30 C weather does not matter, and that you are now in Central America. I did a little project with myself, where I attempted to try everything on their menu. You can probably guess that while I have tried almost everything on the menu, my go-to is their nachos. Located in the center of Hampton, New Brunswick, Red Brick Pub Eatery is located on the former site of a fire station and is known as the "Red Brick Corner." On March 1, 2020 I ran from Quispamsis to Hampton and had these nachos as a treat at the end of the training run. In the summer of 2018, after biking 26km of the Kouchibouguac National Park, we were hungry for supper! Knowing that this part of the province is known for seafood and poutine and maybe even pizza, I set out to have some fried clams or poutine. Lo and behold, there were nachos on the menu. This restaurant is located in Saint-Louis-De-Kent; a few kilometres from Kouchibouguac National Park. There was barely any cheese and instead of beef, they put bacon on them, and very little bacon at that. There was a little bit of veggies on them, but nothing impressive. Jungle Jim's Bar & Eatery is a franchise with 26 locations across Canada. There is now just one location in the Saint John area, located on the west side. Jungle Jim's has something for everyone and their slogan is "It's a jungle in here." I've been going to Jungle Jim's since the early 2000's and every once in a while, I go and have some nachos. Sometimes I splurge with a "Hurricane" cocktail: It'll blow you away. I go to Vegas periodically, and for a treat I order the nachos on my lunch break. I felt like I just had chips with loose toppings with maybe a hint of a taste of cheese. Quality I really think my opinion changed since the last time I went to Vegas. The Saint John Ale House is located on The Boardwalk in Uptown Saint John. It has an upstairs, which looks like a traditional restaurant, and a downstairs, which is more of a pub. If you get there early on a summer evening, you have a front row seat to the entertainment on the boardwalk. The Ale House is known for its variety of ales; however, I am here to review the kettle chips. Saint John, N.B. has +-5 places that offer nachos with kettle chips instead of tortilla or pita chips. I can think of three places with kettle chips: Britt's , The Saint John Ale House, and Cask and Kettle . I do prefer corn chips over kettle chips but then again, maybe I have not had the "right" kettle chip nachos. Update: I had the right ones at The Old Triangle in Moncton , N.B. NOTE: This restaurant has closed. Match Factory Restaurant & Cafe is located in the strip mall area of Hampton, NB, in the location formerly occupied by Holly's Restaurant. In 2017 and some of 2018, I was tagged multiple times in a "share & win" promotion of  a Nacho Bar night at Match Factory Restaurant. On Thursday nights, there was a nacho bar buffet for a price of $14 with the purchase of a beverage. I have a few pictures of their Nacho Bar as well as their regular nachos. Hello!  Welcome to my nacho blog! My nacho journey began when I went to Keystone Kelly's in Saint John, NB in 2002. They were spicy but delicious. I was hooked. I started taking pictures of nachos and rating them in 2004. Now, I did not take nachos every time because I did not get my first digital camera until 2005. This blog will have most of the nachos from the Saint John area and around New Brunswick as well as some nachos that I had while travelling around Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
