Drifter Brew Co.: Rothesay, New Brunswick

Drifter Brew Co. opened its doors in the spring of 2024, taking the place of an old favorite of mine: Peddler's Creek. They completely re-did the interior and changed the menu which comprises of some of the classic BBQ stuff from Peddler's Creek, and it also now has wood-fired pizza. We waited for this place to open with great anticipation from the moment we tried to go to Peddlers earlier in 2024, only to arrive at a deserted parking lot. When we did some more research, we came to find out that there would be no more Hammond River Brewing/Peddler's Creek/Barrel's Head, and so we waited. We must have been some of the first customers at the new place and we tried the excellent craft beer, pizza, and BBQ food. A couple of years later, we are regulars and their food has improved significantly with the new chef! It's always a treat to go to Drifter Brew Co.

Drifter Chicken Nachos - March 2026

Drifter Brisket Nachos - February 2025

Distribution of Toppings

Look at all that cheese! There was never a dull moment with those nachos. The chip to cheese ratio is what other restaurants should aspire to have.

Quality

Now they have the perfectly melted cheese blend topped with some green onions and we have three dips to go along with these nachos. The taste was pretty good but I found a lot of it to be kind of plain and could have used more veggies, jalapeños, maybe cilantro, maybe other herbs or spices. The editor previously had their pulled pork nachos and I did not have any of them (I can't believe I did that). These chicken nachos just seemed to be missing some of the flavors that were in those pull pork nachos. I'm surprised they do not have brisket as an option anymore. I would like to have brisket or steak as an option, but admittedly that is kind of a rarity. I personally do not like pulled pork and I rarely have chicken nachos.

Quantity

This was a lot to have on my own for lunch. Oh my!

Value

The nachos are $22.50 and that includes your choice of smoked pulled pork or chicken. To add guacamole, it is $2.99 extra.  This is a pretty good value considering most places now charge close to $30 for a plate of nachos and that might not include all the extras you can add on.

Conclusion

Drifter definitely delivers on having wonderfully cheesy nachos. I am wondering if they can make the flavor pop a bit more, maybe an option to make them spicy, and maybe offer brisket as an option again.
