Lone Oak Brewing: Prince Edward Island

Lone Oak Brewing Co. has 5 different locations in Prince Edward Island, and we always visit when we go there on vacation. We now have multiple Lone Oak locations included here!

Borden

The Lone Oak Brewery Taproom is located in Gateway Village in Borden, PEI. We went there after running across The Confederation Bridge for the Terry Fox Run! While we were waiting for our shuttle back to New Brunswick, we decided to have a nice feast of wings and nachos.

Lone Oak Veggie Nachos - September 2025

Lone Oak (what was left over)

Distribution of Toppings

The distribution of toppings was one of the worst I've ever seen. It was almost a whole small chip bag left of bare chips and only the top layer got the toppings.

Quality

There was lots of BBQ sauce on the nachos, which can sometimes be a risk for the flavour profile. Sometimes it works, but sometimes it distracts from all the other tastes. In this case, the nachos had too much sauce on them and it took away from the other good flavours. The jalapeƱos were nice and spicy and, although the chip to cheese ratio was poor, the chips were delicious and crunchy. There should have been more cheese on these nachos, but at least the cheese was fully melted and there was a decent toast factor

Quantity

This is large enough to share for a snack.

Value

The veggie nachos are $19 which is an average price.

Conclusion

The town of Borden was busy for late September with many people taking part in the Terry Fox Run and they did the best they could considering the circumstances. I think at the normal busy season in the summer, the nachos probably have better distribution of toppings. Maybe the kitchen wasn't staffed up as much as it would be in summer. I think they were still pretty good considering there was a ton of flavour, all the cheese was melted, and the value is decent. However, I wouldn't be in a rush to go get their nachos again. Next time, I might try the wings!

Cavendish

The Lone Oak Beer Garden is located in the Avonlea Village in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island. It was one of our favorite places to go when we were in PEI, whether it was for some seafood chowder after a 30+ km bike ride in the national park or for a late night plate of nachos. It was a nice breath of fresh air after our disappointing visit to The Ship's Company earlier that night. It was one of those times where we decided that we had to finish the night with some good nachos and the Lone Oak Beer Garden delivered! To read more about Lone Oak Beer Garden, they have a nice write-up on their website.

Lone Oak Beer Garden Nachos - July 2023

Distribution of Toppings

Distribution was not perfect with some bare chips left over, but there is no picture posted showing the leftover chips so it wasn't too bad. There was enough fallen toppings left over to scoop up with the leftover chips, which always eases the pain.

Quality

The toppings tasted fresh with the tomatoes and peppers. There was no meat offered for these nachos, and no seasoning was used. The nachos could have been in the oven a little longer for a better toast factor. The dips were small but we had no need for big dips since there was lots of guacamole in the middle. I am on the fence about putting the dips right in there with the nachos because it can make the adjacent chips soggy. Also, if you have the dip on the side, there are more options for someone who may not want to eat the dip.

Quantity

This was enough to share for lunch.

Value

Lone Oak Beer Garden's nachos are $18 including the dips. Considering the price we paid at the Ship's Company and that we were in a touristy area, this was a good value. Another thing to be considered was that the distribution of toppings and the quality were pretty good.

Conclusion

I am so happy we stumbled upon this place in our travels and went more than once for a great experience each time. Their nachos were not perfect but they were "A-range" worthy.
