St. Louis Bar & Grill

St. Louis Bar & Grill Saint John

St. Louis Bar & Grill has locations around New Brunswick and one just opened up in Saint John in 2024. I've had requests to add St. Louis Bar & Grill (Quispamsis) to the Hometown Top 10, but that list is limited to locations in the city of Saint John. If I were to add somewhere in Quispamsis, then there's a case for Hampton, Sussex, Moncton, Grand Bay - where does it stop? Before you know it, all of New Brunswick is in the Hometown Top 10. However, now that St. Louis Bar & Grill has a location in Saint John, they are eligible to be on the Hometown Top 10 list and - spoiler alert - they made the list after our very first visit.

St Louis Bar & Grill Chicken Wing Nachos (regular) - January 2024

Distribution of Toppings

Every bite had some delicious flavor on it. There was never a dull moment when we had these chicken wing nachos.

Quality

When we went to the Saint John location, we picked what we knew was going to be a slam dunk in quality based on what we experienced in Quispamsis. The only thing I would say was off about them was that there was too much dill sauce on it. The sauce took away from the overall taste of the nachos a little bit. The nachos were well-cooked but seemed to have cooled off a little bit. The chopped up jalapeƱos were tasty but not spicy. The chips were wonderfully crispy, the chicken wing breading was dry and crunchy, and it is recommended to ask for extra cheese.

Quantity

These were enough to share for lunch.

Service

The server was very excited to be there and said "amazing" in just about every sentence. I thought she was amazing.

Value

A regular-sized plate of St Louis nachos is $17.99. The personal size is $11.99. If you add grilled chicken, it is $4.99 extra. If you add beef brisket it is $5.49 extra. If you add guacamole it is $1.99 extra. Finally, to make them a chicken wing nacho it is $3.99 extra. I think the price is good considering how well they nail all the criteria for making great nachos.

Conclusion

Our trip to St. Louis Bar & Grill in Saint John was a tasty experience, and I am happy to be able to finally put them in the hometown top ten. While it was heavy on the dill sauce and needed more cheese, they were delicious, a good value, and we had great service with a positive, energetic vibe.

St Louis Bar & Grill Quispamsis

St Louis Bar & Grill is a chain restaurant that opened in October 2020 in Quispamsis, New Brunswick. If I were to give instructions maritimer-style, I would say it is located where the old Jungle Jim's used to be. When it first opened, there were no reservations and there was usually a wait to get a table. Now, in 2023, they take reservations and you can usually get a table right away. We had the nachos many times since they opened, and St Louis continues to be one of our favorites in the KV region.

Distribution of Toppings

As you can see, there are no pictures of chips after all the toppings are all gone for all the experiences, so that is a good sign. In February 2022, there was something for every chip; however, they could have put more cheese on the nachos. This was a problem that we had in our original visit in October 2020. When we had the Trash Can Nachos (might be a summer promotion only), the distribution of toppings was very good.

Quality

The chicken was very fresh and I like having fried chicken instead of that flavourless frozen/canned stuff that you see at many other places. The corn chips were nice and fresh and the two cheeses blended together as they should be. I also like how there was sauce sprinkled around the chips to add to the flavour.

Value

The St Louis nachos are $17.29. If you add grilled chicken, it is $4.99 extra. If you add beef brisket, it is $5.49 extra. If you add guacamole, it is $1.99 extra. If you add boneless chicken to make them the signature chicken wing nachos it is $3.99 extra. The price is fair considering the distribution of toppings and the quality.

Quantity

We have always shared the nachos when we visit and it is always sufficient for a meal.

Conclusion

I think that if you are going to St Louis Bar & Grill, you should order the Signature Wings Nachos because they get it right every time. It's hard to try another meat when one is so good! The Signature Wings Nachos have improved since our original visit in the overall quality and they are the perfect example of working out the rookie "kinks" of cooking everlasting nachos. The Trash Can Nachos were great and I hope they continue to offer them throughout the year.
