La Carnita: Toronto, Ontario

La Carnita has three locations in the Toronto area, and we visited the one on 106 John Street in the downtown area. After experiencing some fear factor-like hornets at a previous place where we had to leave before eating, it was refreshing to have some good indoor seating in this Mexican restaurant. As you can see, these nachos were loaded and there was not one bare chip left behind. Quality It was a nice creamy tray of nachos with amazing seasoning. The carne asada was perfectly tender and well seasoned. The chips were great as well even though there were a few mushy chips on the bottom. Drifter Brew Co.: Rothesay, New Brunswick

Drifter Brew Co. opened its doors in the spring of 2024, taking the place of an old favorite of mine:  Peddler's Creek . They completely re-did the interior and changed the menu which comprises of some of the classic BBQ stuff from Peddler's Creek, and it also now has wood-fired pizza. We waited for this place to open with great anticipation from the moment we tried to go to Peddlers earlier in 2024, only to arrive at a deserted parking lot. When we did some more research, we came to find out that there would be no more Hammond River Brewing/Peddler's Creek/Barrel's Head, and so we waited. We must have been some of the first customers at the new place and we tried the excellent craft beer, pizza, and BBQ food. A couple of years later, we are regulars and their food has improved significantly with the new chef! Hub City Pub: Moncton New Brunswick

Hub City Pub is located in Casino New Brunswick, Moncton, NB. This is a fun spot where you can play lots of games, see some live entertainment, and eat some delicious food. There is also a buffet in the casino that offers a variety of different delicious foods if you're undecided on what you would like to eat. We have stayed here on a few occasions and enjoyed some amazing concerts including NOFX, The Beaches, the Buzzcocks, and the Descendents! After the concerts, we always have the nachos at the Hub City Pub. Archibald Micro & Resto: Québec City, QC

There are six different Archibald locations in Québec: Lac-Beauport, Sainte-Foy, Aéroport de Montréal, Trois-Rivières, Blainville, and Cartier Petit Champlain (the one featured here). This time around, the distribution was much better, granted it was a much smaller plate and thus, proper distribution is more easily achieved. Quality I always love a good triangular corn chip. MIX Resto Bar, Saint John, N.B.

The MIX Resto Bar is located in the Delta Brunswick, which is in the Brunswick Square Mall in Saint John, N.B. Many people in Saint John believe these nachos are the best in town. The chip to cheese ratio was a little off as there should have been more cheese.  Quality This time, there was a proper cheese blend, but the toast factor  was not very good as there were visible cheese shreds. They use round chips which are not as good as the triangular chip because it does not catch the toppings and dips as well. There was no spice on the chips but some herbs were sprinkled on. Cask and Kettle Irish Gastropub

The Cask and Kettle Irish Gastropub opened its Irish doors at its first location in Uptown Saint John, New Brunswick in 2016. It is located on Prince William street in the heart of the uptown area. In 2021, Cask and Kettle opened a second location in Rothesay, New Brunswick. After they opened the Rothesay location, they opened a third location in Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick. It is located at the Westfield Golf Course and I'm sure it would be a delight to have some nachos after a good round of golf! The Gahan House

The Gahan House is a brewpub that serves pub food and it originated in Charlottetown, PEI in March of 1997. The Gahan House has locations in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI. I do not have a good picture from the one from Nova Scotia yet but will add to the blog as soon as I go back. This was one of my original blog entries and continues to be in the hometown top ten! Lots of cheesy chips in this plate of nachos. Quality This plate of nachos had three dips: gahan salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. There were a lot of options for dipping your cheesy chips in. Lone Oak Brewing: Prince Edward Island

Lone Oak Brewing Co. has 5 different locations in Prince Edward Island, and we always visit when we go there on vacation. We now have multiple Lone Oak locations included here! Borden The Lone Oak Brewery Taproom is located in Gateway Village in Borden, PEI. We went there after running across The Confederation Bridge for the Terry Fox Run! While we were waiting for our shuttle back to New Brunswick, we decided to have a nice feast of wings and nachos. It was almost a whole small chip bag left of bare chips and only the top layer got the toppings. Quality There was lots of BBQ sauce on the nachos, which can sometimes be a risk for the flavour profile. Sometimes it works, but sometimes it distracts from all the other tastes. Pump House

Pumphouse has three locations: 2 in Moncton and 1 in Shediac, New Brunswick. Pumphouse is famous for their craft beers and wood-fired pizzas. When we go to Pumphouse, it's always a treat to have some delicious beer and some good pub food. Pumphouse Shediac We went to Pumphouse in Shediac for NB Day weekend in August 2025. I am updating this entry in February 2026 so my memory might be a little rusty! Pumphouse Brisket Nachos - August 2025 Pumphouse what was left over - August 2025 Distribution of Toppings The distribution of toppings was not very good. I think they just wanted to get these nachos out quickly so they did not focus on the distribution so much. Quality These nachos were loaded in barbecue sauce that overpowered everything. Putting sauce on the nachos is tricky because if there's too much, it can take away from the other tastes that a plate of nachos can provide.
